This event will allow teams to form their own talent from any Central Section high school and have their own choices of coaches. Event date is July 21, but deadline to register teams for pool play is Monday, July 15.
All players who plan to participate must pay a $10 fee to compete. Though its a 7-on-7 format that will see lots of passing, offenses are allowed to run option-style plays and defenses are allowed to blitz, but only once during an offensive series.
Also - something rarely heard about in a 7-on-7 tournament - overtime rules will feature a 1-on-1 battle between a wide receiver, a defensive back and the fight for the football.
Teams from Clovis, Hanford and Lemoore have already registered online, but there's still lots of time to get a team signed up for the July 21 event. The hope is to get between six to 12 teams on board to fill a bracket. Awards are also given out after the tournament.
