Time to provide an update on one of those backs: Oceanside's Thai Cottrell.
On Wednesday, May 29, Cottrell landed offer No. 2 and his first from the Football Championship Subdivision ranks with Northern Arizona. This is a sign that he's starting to explode on the recruiting trail, since there's schools noticing his explosive running style.
As this previous post stated, Cottrell leaves behind a trail of dust when he runs and also a trail of faked out defenders with the ball in his hand. His elusiveness, speed and ability to also catch passes are strengths.
One final thing to point out: Cottrell comes from a county that's produced some ankle-breaking running backs. San Diego County has helped introduce football fans to Marcus Allen (Lincoln-San Diego), Reggie Bush (Helix-La Mesa) and recently Fresno State all-time leading rusher and new Cleveland Brown Robbie Rouse (James Madison-San Diego).
