WEEK TWO GOLD MINES

Romello Harris rumbled to 390 yards and four touchdowns in Tulare's 49-41 shootout victory over Redwood of Visalia (photo credit: Ron Holman of the Visalia Times Delta).
Here’s this week’s gold mines from week two:

JAKE JEFFREY, QUARTERBACK, FOLSOM

Jeffrey has the challenging task of replacing the decorated Jake Browning, but it looks like Browning’s successor is the next signal caller to put out uncanny numbers for the Bulldogs’ high-octane offense. Jeffrey threw for 304 yards and five touchdowns in Folsom’s 54-14 romp of Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove).

CLARENCE PIERSON, RUNNING BACK, RIVER VALLEY

Pierson ran for three touchdowns and added one interception for River Valley in its 55-43 shootout victory over Roseville.

RYAN VIERRA, DEFENSIVE BACK, CENTRAL CATHOLIC (MODESTO)

The 6-foot, 180-pound defensive back had an astonishing 23 solo tackles and one sack for Central Catholic, as the Raiders knocked off rival St. Mary’s 36-22.

ISAIAH HILLIARD, RUNNING BACK, SANGER

Playing against an undefeated Clovis East team, Hilliard sliced his way to 207 yards and three touchdowns in the Apaches’ 32-15 win over the Timberwolves, placing Sanger at 3-0.

SHAWNDALE ROSS, RUNNING BACK, EAST BAKERSFIELD

Ross had a breakout evening of 25 carries, 263 yards and one touchdown in EB’s 41-21 rout of Mira Monte.

JOSEPH MCDANIEL, RUNNING BACK, HANFORD

McDaniel, while playing in front of a rabid crowd at Claud Hebert Field in Dinuba, stunned the powerful Emperors with 21 carries, 119 yards and four touchdowns in the 45-13 trouncing of the Central Section’s Division-II title game runner-up from last year.

ROMELLO HARRIS, RUNNING BACK, TULARE UNION

Harris continues his assault on the TUHS record books and has his sights set on the state’s all-time leading rushing record, after accumulating 390 yards and four touchdowns in Tulare’s 49-41 win over Redwood (Visalia).

JAKE CONSTANTINE, QUARTERBACK, CAMARILLO

Constantine and the Scorpions were supposed to be due for a tough battle up Highway 101 in Arroyo Grande. But instead, Constantine continues to prove why he’s one of the hardest quarterbacks to game plan against in the 805, with 302 total yards including 246 through the air in the Scorps’ 27-13 upset over the highly-ranked Eagles.

ANTHONY CATALANO, QUARTERBACK, CENTENNIAL (CORONA)

Catalano totaled 396 yards of offense and helped get his head coach Matt Logan to join the 200-win club, as the Huskies cruised to a 35-14 victory over Orange Lutheran.

JAVON MCKINLEY, WIDE RECEIVER, CENTENNIAL (CORONA)

The highly-prized McKinley caught 10 passes for 210 yards and one touchdown in the Huskies’ 21-point drubbing of Orange Lutheran.

JAYDEN DANIELS, QUARTERBACK, CAJON (SAN BERNARDINO)

Only a freshman, Daniels went 16 of 25 passing for 300 yards and four touchdowns in the Cowboys’ 42-7 trouncing of Kaiser.

JOSH HOKIT, SAFETY, CLOVIS

Hokit pulverized Atwater with 16 tackles and one fumble recovery in the Cougars' 28-0 road shutout victory.

CURTIS JACKSON, SAFETY, IRVINE

Jackson snatched up 10 tackles and scored twice - once on an interception and one through a receiving touchdown - as Irvine defeated Rim of the World (Lake Arrowhead) 44-24.
